I found the step by step instructions in the book, and especially the troubleshooting section have already improved my bread. I’ve been making sourdough on and off for years, and have got serious about it in the last 8 months or so. I’ve read loads of books and watched videos, and although my bread is fine, it’s never been excellent and has also been unreliable – every time I bake it seems like something else isn’t quite right. After implementing just a few of Andra’s simple adjustments to timing, temperature and folds, my bread is better than it’s ever been. I particularly love the fact she gets what it’s like baking in a cold U.K. kitchen! The tips on hydration for whole meal flour were straightforward and helpful.
The book has no recipes – just one simple, basic recipe and lots of information about method. I feel as if it gives me a core, reliable process that I can build on. I feel more confident about understanding the dough, rather than just following recipes. Very glad I bought the book!

There’s so many resources online, but somehow I either kept killing my sourdough before it being ready dor action or during maintenance. I don’t do well with frustration so I gave up after a few tries.
Fast fwd a couple years later, I stumble over Andra’s insta account.
She explains things in a way that makes them make sense 🙂 Yeah, I need context and a story, not just steps to follow, and she provides all of that and more. I highly recommend you read the ebook and check out her insta. It will make a huge difference for your sourdough bread journey 🙂
It was a process, but I finally managed to bake my first perfect little sourdough bread, so thank you for the education you provide here.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Invaluable Guide for Sourdough Success!
I can’t recommend Sourdough Explained enough! Andra’s ebook is an absolute game-changer for anyone looking to improve their sourdough baking skills. Her detailed explanations are incredibly helpful, offering clear guidance that’s easy to follow — whether you’re just starting out or refining your technique.
I already had a sourdough starter but struggled to achieve consistent results. Thanks to Andra’s exact timelines and her fantastic insights into the impact of dough temperature (like the difference between working at 19°C versus 24°C), my bakes have improved dramatically. Her troubleshooting section is packed with valuable tips that answer so many common questions — truly a lifesaver!
One of the biggest improvements I’ve experienced is in my bulk fermentation* — Andra’s advice really helped me understand the process better, and I’ve finally started to nail it more consistently.
If you’re serious about improving your sourdough baking, this ebook is an absolute must-have. Thank you, Andra, for sharing your expertise so generously!

Really really really useful!
I bought the book after 2 failures wanting to understand what I’m doing wrong. I found a chapter in the book describing very accurate my bakes and how to fix the issue. And guess what? It worked like a charm. I’d say the book is much more than just some information put together about sourdough, it’s the result of lots of experimenting, trial and error, adjusting to get the best of a dough. You can just skip a lot of steps using Andra’s knowledge without having the impression you’re following a recipe. You can still experiment, play around with flours and timings while having clear and scientific explanations why or why not you’re doing certain things.
100% would recommend

Well I was working myself up for years to finally try making sourdough. I got my starter started then bought your book. My first loaf was literally perfect following your instructions. I have also started making discard recipes. So glad to have started this journey.
